Treks

Come Trek With Us...

Each month, September through June, a hardy band of BVGers sets off to explore a botanical garden, historic landscape, special nursery or other exotic destination.

If you'd like to organize a trek, please contact one of the Board members. Check
out this page or watch your monthly newsletter for details about these informal
trips. It's a great way to get to know what's happening on the New England
garden scene - and to have a lot of fun in the process.Non-members
wishing to join in on Treks, call Ann Hanscom to sign up.

UPCOMING TREKS (2006)

March 30th (a Thursday) to the Peabody Museum at Harvard University for the Glass Flowers, and if possible, the Gray Herbarium. Depart Foxfire Farm 8:30 am.

April 19th (a Wednesday) to spring bulbs (yea!) at Blithewold Mansion, Bristol, R.I.
If time permits, return via Newport to see what's blooming there. Depart
Foxfire Farm 8:30 am.

May 18th (a Thursday) - a tour of The Hidden Gardens of Beacon Hill (Boston). Tickets, prepaid $25 to Ann H. by March 28th, will be ordered on that date. After that, tickets are your own responsibility (go online for details - they often sell out, but can be bought on the day of the tour, if available, for $30), but put your name in to Ann H. for carpool arrangements. Depart Foxfire Farm 8:00 am (this is an all-day event with Dutch-treat lunch in Boston).

June: thinking of the Berkshires (Edith Wharton's The Mount) and the Connecticut River Valley (John O'Brien's Hosta nursery) - feedback wanted. This trek should be a nice reward after the Plant Sale!
