The Blackstone Valley Gardeners is made up of members of the Blackstone Valley community founded in 1995 and dedicated to the advancement of horticulture, the development of home gardens, and the civic beautification and conservation of the natural environment of the Blackstone Valley.

In the year 1995 Barbara Gaudette of Whitinsville (a landscape designer( gave a lecture on the Whitin Estate Gardens. This lecture planted the seed for the Blackstone Valley Gardeners. After a collection of interested persons, a survey, and an informal meeting, out grew the Blackstone Valley Gardeners at the end of October and it has continued to grow with more than 50 members at the time of this writing in March of 2011.

David Hughes will share with us the basics necessary to make your garden thrive, as well as his personal plant preferences for achieving a thoughtful balance between resources used and results gained. David will pay special attention to sustainable trees and shrubs in his discussion.
